Land Acknowledgement Statement

At Honest Health & Wellness, we profoundly honor the lands where we engage with our community, recognizing the deep and enduring presence of Indigenous peoples. Our virtual operations and in-person events, held primarily in Chicago, Cleveland, and across the USA, take place on the ancestral homelands of various tribes.

In Chicago, we acknowledge the traditional lands of the Council of the Three Fires, including the Ojibwa, Ottawa, and Potawatomi peoples. We also honor the historical presence of the Ho-Chunk, Miami, Menominee, Sauk, and Meskwaki tribes.

In Cleveland, we recognize the ancestral lands of the Erie, Shawnee, Wyandot, and Seneca tribes, among others. These tribes have deep historical and cultural ties to the region that continue to impact and enrich the community today.

As an Indigenous Boliviana connected to a South American tribe, I am deeply committed to honoring and integrating the rich diversity of Indigenous cultures and histories into my work. I acknowledge the enduring impacts of colonization, genocide, and the ongoing struggles faced by Native American and Indigenous communities throughout the Americas.

In my role as an Indigenous dietitian, I strive to ensure that these acknowledgments are not just statements but guiding principles in my practice. This means actively incorporating respect for Indigenous histories and addressing the legacies of oppression while celebrating the resilience and contributions of Indigenous peoples. My commitment is to foster an inclusive and respectful approach to nutrition and community engagement that supports Indigenous rights and recognition both in North America and globally.
